Google Maps · A plain answer
Why is my business not showing on Google Maps? The usual causes, and how to check yours.
Search Google Maps for your business name plus your town first. If it shows up, the listing works and the real question is ranking: Google says local results depend mainly on relevance, distance and prominence, so a complete listing, a close match to the search and steady reviews decide who appears. If it does not show up even by name, the profile is likely unverified, suspended, hidden as a duplicate or very new. Below: how to tell which, and what fixes each.
Want it checked for you? The free Google scorecard reads your listing and website in about ten seconds. The Tune-Up, $399 once, fixes what it finds.

Step by step
How do you find out why your business is not on Google Maps?
01
Search by name and town
Type your exact business name and your town into Google Maps, the way a regular customer would. If your listing appears, nothing is broken; it just is not ranking for broader searches such as “plumber near me”. If it does not appear, sign in to the Google account that manages the profile and look at its status.
02
Check the profile status
Unverified profiles, suspended profiles and duplicates do not show normally, and a profile Google treats as a duplicate does not show on Search or Maps at all. A suspension comes with a notice in the profile and a way to appeal. New businesses can take up to a month to appear in results, and a profile reinstated after a suspension can take days or weeks to come back.
03
If it shows by name, work on ranking
Google weighs relevance (how well the listing matches the search), distance (how far you are from the person searching) and prominence (how well known the business is, including its reviews). You cannot change distance. You can choose the right primary category, fill in hours, services and photos, reply to reviews and keep new ones coming. Google says there is no way to pay for a better local ranking.
What to avoid
What keeps a business off Google Maps without the owner noticing?
Information that does not match: an old address, a phone number that differs from the one on your website, or hours nobody updated. Google says inaccurate information can keep a profile from showing for relevant searches. A business name padded with keywords or town names it does not legally use can also get a profile suspended, which hides it.
A second profile for the same business is another common cause, and so is a service-area business showing a home address customers never visit. Before you change anything big, write down what the listing says now; a change of name, address or category can send the profile back through verification.
What you get
How does Zomtronics get a business back on Google Maps?
The cause found first
The free scorecard shows in about ten seconds how your listing compares with the three businesses Google shows first, and whether your website and phone match the listing. If something is broken, I tell you which of the causes above it is.
The listing fixed
In the Tune-Up, $399 once, I fix the category, hours, services and photos, sort out duplicate listings, and match the phone and address to your website. You add me as a manager and keep ownership.
Kept from slipping again
Local Presence Care, $149 a month, keeps the listing current with four posts a month and a reply to every review, with a receipt on the 1st. The Review Engine, $99 a month, asks every finished customer once for a review.
What the free scorecard checks
Two groups, each line marked OK, CHECK or FIX: your Google listing (categories, hours, photos, rating, and review count against the three businesses Google shows first) and your website (secure connection, a tap-to-call number at the top, the phone matching the listing, page title and business details). Run your scorecard.

Questions
Questions, answered plainly.
Why does my business show on Google Search but not on Google Maps?
Often it does show on Maps, just not for the search you tried. Search Maps for your exact name plus your town. If it appears, the listing works and the question is ranking. If it does not, check the profile for a verification, suspension or duplicate notice.
How long does a new Google Business Profile take to show up?
Verification has to finish first. After that, Google says rankings for new businesses can take up to a month to appear. A profile that was suspended and then reinstated can take a few days to a few weeks to show again.
Can I pay Google to show my business higher on Maps?
Not in the free results. Google says there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking. Ads are a separate paid placement marked as sponsored. The free ranking comes from a complete, accurate listing, a close match to the search, and reviews.
What does it cost to have Zomtronics fix a listing that is not showing?
The Google scorecard is free. The Tune-Up is $399 once, and Local Presence Care is $149 a month. If the cause turns out to be a suspension, see what to do when a Google Business Profile is suspended. Every price is published before we ever talk.
